They are about three million and are divided into about 21 groups, each with its own legitimate leader. Belgian model Marisa Papen describes herself as a "free-spirited and wild hearted expressionist". The nude model who caused a worldwide stir after a secret photoshoot inside one of Egypt's most ancient temples landed her in jail has now appeared naked among one of Africa's painted tribes. Marisa Papen was at the centre of a worldwide controversy after she was imprisoned for posing nude in the vast temple complex of Karnak, near the city of Luxor earlier this month. The Belgian model has now shared stunning pictures taken by Australian photographer Jesse Walker from their African trip that saw her walk naked among the members of an isolated Ethiopian tribe.
These stunning images document the everyday lives of the men, women and children of the Mentawai tribe, an indigenous people in Indonesia that has managed to keep their traditional ways, far from modern society. The Mentawai people, a native population in Indonesia, are famous for their decorative tattoos and for living a semi-nomadic life on the Mentawai Islands in West Sumatra. Shot by professional photographer Mohammed Saleh Bin Dollah, the series captures a glimpse of life on the island, where the tribe clan is everything and any problem can be solved by a medicine man. The year-old photographer from Kelantan, Malaysia, visited the tribe to document their way of life.
